Hi I’m Marcia and I’m here to share all things on cruise and travel. Holidays are my life and I love to share my experiences and hear of others. I’ve worked in travel for almost 10 years now, and still love helping people find their dream holiday. As you may know if you’ve reads my previous blogs I have a little passion for Norway and the hunt for the Aurora Borealis, I blame it all on my mother, what started out as her dream has now become a passion for us both and once was never enough. Italy is another of my favourite countries, I’ve never had a bad trip there, in fact I don’t think there’s anywhere I’ve been to that I haven’t enjoyed, and I’ve been travelling since I was a baby, living in India for the first year of my life, not that I can remember that of course. My motto is enjoy yourself your on holiday and make the best of every opportunity, and once it’s over look forward to your next one, which is where we come in

Wow we have just been notified that one of their most popular ships is returning back to her original port of Southampton for Summer 2016…..which one I hear you ask…well worry no more I am pleased to tell you that it is the Independence of the Seas.

Independence of the Seas.
Independence of the Seas.

This is one of their larger ships accommodating over 4000 passengers. Since her launch in 2008 she has spent every Summer sailing around Europe and the Mediterranean pleasing adults and children with her many facilities and abundance of entertainment on board in addition to  many interesting ports of call. With the launch of Royal Caribbean’s brand new ship the Anthem of the Seas they decided to move her to the Caribbean to allow people to experience their newest most innovative ship yet, however due to popular demand she is being brought back to the UK which will delight both regular and new cruisers. Itineraries will include a mix of between 3 – 14 night voyages so there will be something for everyone, the mini cruises are always very popular as a taster to try the ship or just to have a weekend away.

She has won many awards and most recently been voted best family cruise by Cruise Critic, her family cabins are some of the fastest selling cabins for peak sailings and ask anyone who has cruised on her and they will tell you that there is something for all ages, from the varied children’s clubs to a rockclimbing wall, from a flowrider where you can surf the waves to ice skating to just relaxing by the many pools, the shows are not to be missed and brand new since her refurbishment last year is the Cupcake Cupboard where you can have a different flavoured cupcake everyday and the Royal Promenade also deserves to be strolled down

These are available to book from 19th March and I would definitely recommend booking early to take advantage of some fabulous offers including free all inclusive drinks packages and free gratuities plus for the first time in a long time these offers are combinable with loyalty benefits from the C&A Society, with deposits at only £150p/p to secure your next cruise, plus here at Cruise Club Uk we have no credit card charges on deposits for our cruises for your extra protection with booking.

Many people call me and say they are bored of cruising the Med and Caribbean and are looking for somewhere new, somewhere different. One destination that is new and exciting is Far East cruise. Favored once for young backpackers, a cruise and stay is the perfect adults ‘traveling’ holiday, and with many more adults taking a Gap year this cruise is a perfect choice. Imagine drinking a Singapore Sling in the famous Raffles bar, shopping in Hong Kong, walking along the Great Wall of China or sampling the sights of the famous Bangkok floating markets and more.

What’s more book on our exclusive package and receive 2 complimentary excursions in Beijing. From our own experiences we know that when visiting a capital city its almost impossible to see everything in such a short space of time so what better than to have a tour guide taking you around the most important sights making sure you don’t miss out on this fantastic city. You will visit Tiananmen Square, the 4th largest square in the world, the Summer Palace, a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces and declared by Unesco as a World Heritage site. On your second day we will take you to The Temple of Heaven and of course a visit can not be without a stop at the Great Wall.

Mauritius in the Indian Ocean is one of the world’s most beautiful places, pristine white sands, crystal clear blue seas and vast forests. Its a multicultural island taking inspiration from many countries and cultures with many things to see and do. Combine this with an Indian Ocean cruise and you can also add a visit to the Seychelles, Madagascar and Reunion Island just to name a few.

Since Celebrity cruise lines have re launched their 123 Celebrity Cruises All Inclusive promotion they have been selling extremely well for both 2015 and 2016

Now I’m more of a last minute person but I must admit there are better deals around for 2016 so I can how much it is worth booking early…..and then at least you know you have something to look forward to. We were actually told that this is because this promotion was so popular last December that already over 50% of cabins for 2015 have already been booked, and we are still in 2014. Cruising trends seem to be changing constantly but I think this is how cruising began, the best offers were always available to the people that booked early

Where would you prefer for Christmas….England, Canary Island or  a cruise round the Caribbean?

So I came across something really surprising today, if you are looking at going away over Christmas it is actually cheaper to go to the Caribbean than it is the Canary Islands, and I’m sure for a lot of people this beats staying in the UK if you’re after a bit of winter sun.

I’m sure as you are reading this you are thinking no the Canary Islands must be cheaper, the Caribbean is further afield as a much more inviting destination, whether you want pure white sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters, or just to relax sitting on your balcony watching the sunset with your favourite cocktail

Would you rather have this?

After reading another guys post online it inspired me to make my own list of my top 5 life changing  travel destinations and experiences so here they are

5 – Lake Garda

My very first holiday on my own, and progressively fell in love with Italy. The small towns along the lake are stunning and a definite must see if you haven’t been there before. I stayed with an Italian friend of my dad’s and we drove around the lake sightseeing shopping and tasting local Italian delicacies. I was so taken with the beautiful scenery I forgot to admire the Italian men! It’s also a good base for travelling to the other lakes, Verona, Milan and Venice by train

Celebrity cruises has just released a special short cruise with a  2 night sailing on their award winning ship Eclipse.

This is a perfect opportunity for new and old cruisers. It is a fantastic way to sample a new ship or cruise line, sail again if you love this ship or even if you just fancy a long weekend break.

The Celebrity Eclipse has sailed out of Southampton for the last few years and next year is no different. She has won many awards since her launch and only recently ‘best ship to sail out of the UK’  She perfectly combines the concept of Modern cruising for Celebrity, sleek lines, modern décor, fabulous food and quirky extras such as Qsine where you can order your food from Ipads, the Lawns where you can watch glass blowing and the exclusive Aqua Spa.

For anyone wanting to get into a little festive spirit I cannot recommend enough a short Christmas cruise from Southampton to the European Christmas markets

I have a yearly tradition of going to Christmas markets around Europe, why stick with Manchester when you can have a holiday! Believe me I need no excuses to take a little trip.
We started with Cologne (where there was a Lindt chocolate factory), then Zurich to sample ‘real’ Swiss chocolate and so the next logical step on our map was Belgium….Bruges here we come for pure Belgian chocolate, not that this was the only reason how we chose our destinations. Now as much as I love my Gluwein and traditional markets with trinkets and local crafts, team this with a chocolate shop on every corner and I was in heaven.

Last year I cruised with Azamara, being the sister company to Celebrity I knew I was in for a treat. My only worry was that there are only 2 ships in their fleet and carrying less than 800 passengers I was a little worried as I have only cruised on much larger ships

Worried I need not have been, everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the ship was beautiful. Yes it was smaller than I was used to but as both ships the Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest have both been refurbished they looked brand new.
