#Comebacknew with Princess cruises

It’s plan a cruise month this October 2017. Each week will have a different destination theme, week 4 is Asia, so please read on and discover Cruise Club UK’s top cruise tips, including staff top tips too.

For those who are yet to cruise it can be a challenge on where to start looking and what suits your needs. Here we aim to provide you with the best tips to get the most out of your dream cruise:

Far East

Indian Ocean

Middle East

shutterstock_545904505

Cosmopolitan cities await in the Far East, most cruise lines starting points for the Far East start in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing, Bali and Shanghai. You will find most cruise lines offer a pre cruise stay in the above cities, giving you the opportunity to explore and experience the sights, sounds and delights of the city.

TOP TIPS:

Far East cruise season is November to March

Bathroom facilities vary from Country to Country, most of us will know from holidaying in Greece where you put the toilet paper in a bin! In the Far East ‘squat toilets’ are common, best advice is to wait for a toilet break until your near hotels where the facilities will be Westernised.

Check visa requirements before booking your cruise

Some port to city transfers can be long. Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok are approx. 3 hours

If you’re looking for adventure then cruise excursions offer the perfect way to experience rainforests, plus much more

shutterstock_98136956

Looking for a Castaway Experience?

Visiting the Indian Ocean will take in the stunning islands of the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Maldives, India and Mauritius plus many more. You won’t find skyscrapers here, instead you’ll discover an authentic charm, swaying palms and turquoise lagoons

Most cruise lines visiting this area tend to be the smaller ships as it’s much easier for them to navigate

STAFF TOP TIP:

Try the local fruit, it’s totally yummy and not found in the UK

Rainy season is December through to April

shutterstock_222487993

The Middle East cruise region takes in the Arabic Countries that border Arabia and the Red Sea

TOP TIP:

Repositioning cruises operate late October/November and again in late March early April, always very popular with competitive prices

The most popular destination is the Arabian Gulf, where pre or post hotel stays are on offer. Perfect for desert adventures, cultural sight-seeing and shopping

Dress-code: it gets very hot in the summer months, Western casual wear is a definite no! Woman should cover up, take a scarf which can also be used to cover your head in mosques

Guaranteed winter-sunshine all within a 7 hour flight

It’s plan a cruise month this October 2017. Each week will have a different destination theme, week 3 is Australasia, so please read on and discover Cruise Club UK’s top cruise tips, including staff top tips too.

For those who are yet to cruise it can be a challenge on where to start looking and what suits your needs. Here we aim to provide you with the best tips to get the most out of your dream cruise:

Highly recommend a pre/post cruise stay to get the most out of your destination

You’ll be amazed at how different and diverse the cities of Australia are

Australian cruise season is October to April

A payable visa is required for Australia

imageSrc_adapt_687_HIGHpink

STAFF TOP TIP:

Circumnavigation cruises (or bottom end cruises) around the south of Australia take in the stunning Esperance. Visit the pink lake, see the whitest sands Australia has to offer or just meet a kangaroo sunbathing on the beach! This is my all time favourite destination in Australia

shutterstock_553345135

South Pacific – sailing from Australia or New Zealand means numerous days at sea before you even hit the South Pacific. The nearest and lesser known islands of New Caledonia and Isle of Pines are reached first and are ideal for a 7 night cruise, if however you want to cruise to the more popular islands of Fiji you will need to cruise for a longer duration

Know the customs – woman should cover up in a modest way to fit in with the Islanders. Also tipping isn’t a common practice

shutterstock_124537021

TOP TIP:

New Zealand – a day excursion to the Bay of Islands (north of Auckland) is a must visit, it’s one of my favourite places in New Zealand

TOP TIP:

When visiting Napier, head to the tourist office for your free self-guided tour map of the stunning art deco buildings

Quick Facts:

The three islands of Grenada (Grenada the largest, Petite Martinique & Carriacou) are located in the Eastern Caribbean.

Average temperatures range from 24C/75F to 30C/87F

Better known as the ‘Spice Island’ for their exports of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mace, cocoa and nutmeg.

Grenada’s capital, St George’s has one of the most beautiful horseshoe shaped harbours in the Caribbean. The town is nestled into a hillside dotted with pink tiled roof buildings.

Grenada is doable in a day with plenty of wonders to explore. This Volcanic Island has plenty to offer, from cascading rivers and waterfalls, lush rainforest, sulphur springs and Lake Antoine.

If you want to explore St George’s, the best way is by foot. A great place to start is the popular Market Square which is the heart of Grenada’s commercial centre. The National Museum is one of the oldest structures in St George’s, housing artefacts and a rich collection of Grenada’s history. Christ of The Deep Monument stands in the harbour commemorating the courage of the Grenadian people who saved the lives of passengers onboard an Italian cruise line which caught fire and sank in the harbour in 1961. Other places of interest include the Roman Catholic Cathedral and the Parliament Building. For great views head to Fort George, Grenada’s oldest fort and is the centrepiece of St George’s skyline, explore the dark tunnels and climb to the top to see the cannons for a birds-eye view!

Grenada_Discovery_Train

TOP TIP: Don’t want to walk? Listen out for the ringing of the bells through the city, this signals the approaching Grenada Discovery Train. Offering sightseeing tours throughout the town of St George and its surrounding areas.

annadale_falls

The nearest waterfall is just a short drive from the capital. No need to hike as Annandale Waterfall has a paved path. For those who enjoy something a little more strenuous a pre booked excursion would be ideal to visit other beauty spots on the island.

grenada-tours-2

Experience Grenada’s natural beauty by taking a jeep safari into the rainforest

Beach lovers:

45 white sand beaches

9 black sand beaches

grandanse

You won’t have to travel too far from the capital, head South West for the most stunning beaches – Grand Anse Beach is considered one of the 10 most beautiful beaches of the world.

TOP TIP: Try the popular locally brewed beer or Rum Punch spiced with lime juice, syrup and grated nutmeg

Pre bookable excursions are available to book through us or MSC, prices start from £32pp based on a half day excursion

It’s plan a cruise month this October 2017. Each week will have a different destination theme, week 2 is Americas & Caribbean, so please read on and discover Cruise Club UK’s top cruise tips, including staff top tips too.

For those who are yet to cruise it can be a challenge on where to start looking and what suits your needs. Here we aim to provide you with the best tips to get the most out of your dream cruise:

shutterstock_64250077

Check you’re not booking during American Spring Break, sailings and destinations will be full or school and college students wanting to party, party, party!

Good months to travel the Caribbean are March/April – weather is lovely and hot. Can be very humid, but your outside of the hurricane season (June to November)

With regards to hurricane season it’s hard to know when one will hit, but it is easier to guess where. The dividing line between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean is the most common path. The hardest hit Islands tend to be the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands.

The southern Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are outside of the hurricane belt, and very beautiful

shutterstock_19749226

STAFF TOP DESTINATION TIPS:

Alaska – find out in advance what you want to get from your experience, is it wildlife spotting, whale watching, or maybe salmon fishing? This will help you decide what month to travel to get the best from your Alaskan dream cruise

Dunns river falls, Jamaica is a must do

If you want to see more islands, or more Southern Caribbean Islands you are best to fly to an island that offers the itinerary. ie: Barbados, San Juan

Sailing from Florida will have a minimum of one day at sea before getting to the Caribbean Islands.

shutterstock_555335236

Most cruise lines will have you disembark off the ship by 10am at the latest, whilst most flights to the UK won’t depart until 5pm. It’s definitely worth extending your stay after the cruise to avoid the all-day wait.

Caribbean sailings are much more laid back than sailing in Europe. The sail away is always good fun on top deck with the steel bands playing, really brings home that you are in the Caribbean

Air conditioning on ships always seems very cold after a day in the Caribbean heat, take a cardigan for the evenings!

Want a regional flight from the UK??? Most airlines will fly indirect, so why not make the most of the long flight and do a stay and cruise. Some of our most popular destinations include Las Vegas and Orlando.

For those who are yet to cruise it can be a challenge on where to start looking and what suits your needs. Here we aim to provide you with the best tips to get the most out of your dream cruise:

shutterstock_555335236

Look for cruises with overnight in port or late departures, giving you more time to explore

7 night itineraries are destination heavy, if you want some quality days at sea to experience the ship look for 12-14 night itineraries

Spas are at their busiest on sea days, look out for discount deals on port days

Be prepared to leave your cabin early, even if your transfer is hours later – your cabin steward has to prepare for the next guest arriving by lunch time!

Holiday insurance is a must – whilst most ships have hospitals, doctors and nurses onboard medical bills can soon add up in case of illness or an accident

Most river cruises don’t feature a formal night, so leave your fancy clothes at home!

shutterstock_260095259

Sunbed policies vary between cruise lines, some have a 30 minute rule – leave unattended and your items will be removed from the bed and held for you

Research your port of calls, ie Ephesus and Olympia are best visited on an organised excursion, due to the long coach journey from the port, plus you get an experienced guide included

TOP TIPS:

Santorini has a great bus service which is cheap and makes it easy to explore. Rhodes town is very close to the port, easy for a wander round

If you have already visited a destination, try a secondary city. For example Barcelona – try a day trip to Sitges with its fabulous beach and street lined cafes

shutterstock_526676119

STAFF TOP DESTINATION TIP:

Kotor, Montenegro – The sail into the port is stunning, it takes about an hour from the Adriatic Sea through the fjord like surroundings. It’s definitely worth getting up early to witness. Once in the UNESCO town of Kotor explore the well preserved medival town.

WARNING: Spanish IVA (VAT) of 10% is charged while in Spanish ports or Spanish waters

And remember when sailing in EU waters you mobile data is now included at no extra cost!
