Sail With Saddoo

Hello cruise enthusiasts!! My name is Becky, hello and welcome to my blog ‘Sail with Saddoo’. I have worked within travel for over 11 Years and I now have solely focused on cruise holidays for 9 of those years! Im completely crazy about cruising. I Cruise regularly on my own family holidays and am a fountain of knowledge when it comes to the particulars such as kids clubs and family facilities. I also occasionally get to cruise without the family and enjoy this just as much. Cruising is a minefield and there is so much to a cruise holiday, nevermind the variety of ships and their destinations but also things like entertainment and dining make it difficult to choose what is best for you and your requirements. This is where I can help the most as the key is suiting the ship and destination to the right holidaymaker to ensure the best possible cruise experience! I hope you enjoy reading my blogs and feel free to contact me directly I would love to hear from more like minded people who are crazy about cruising 

As we left Southampton and cruised around the English Channel we decided to start to explore the Anthem of the Seas . I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful décor. Around the ship there were snug areas where you can sit and relax with a book and watch the world go by.

As we explored the ship we discovered many futuristic and exciting facilities that we had never seen with any other cruise line before. The Bionic bar was one of my favourites it has ipads around the bar that you can order a cocktail from and you watch as the robotic arms make your chosen cocktail.

Another futuristic wow was a huge light filled with bulbs and their was a stand where you place your hands and the bulbs flash to coincide with your heartbeat. The more I saw the more I loved the ship. I decided to go and explore the solarium and relax for an hour or so and relax I certainly did!!! As I walked into the solarium a friendly staff member greeted me with a smile and an alcoholic shot of something warm and tropical tasting. I lay on a huge comfy bed that faced the huge windows so I had an amazing view of the sea and felt so calm and relaxed that I fell asleep whilst watching the waves.

As I dressed for dinner I eagerly anticipated my dining experience. I was not disappointed as I went into the main dining room we were greeted and seated by a very friendly waiter. He gave us a menu which was a sample of all the different restaurants onboard and I must say the food was outstanding and the waiter was more than attentive to our every needs.

After dinner we made our way to see the ‘We will rock you’ show I must say I have been on a few ships in my time but this was the best I had ever experienced!!! The Cast, Lighting & sound was amazing and I felt like I was at a Broadway show in London.

Overall I had a fantastic trip on the Anthem of the Seas I would certainly recommend this ship to anyone who likes luxury but certainly families, couples and passenger of all ages would enjoy this wonderful ship and the abundance of facilities and activities it has to offer.

My Journey starts…

My excitement began when I was confirmed as a competition winner with a complimentary place aboard the brand spanking new Anthem of the Seas. I had only experienced other cruise lines ships and was eager to A. Experience a Royal Caribbean ship and B. To see what all the hype was about.

My journey began as I travelled from Manchester Piccadilly train station to Southampton with a Journey time of approx 4 Hours. Although this is a long journey me and 2 other lucky colleagues decided to pass the time with a champagne breakfast as we anxiously anticipated our arrival into sunny Southampton.

On Arrival into Southampton Royal Caribbean laid on a complimentary coach transfer down to the port which is literally 5 minutes away from the train station. As the sun shined we arrived at the port I must admit I could not contain my excitement at the sight of this stunning 5* ship as I stood back and admired it for its beauty and huge capacity.

As we boarded we were greeted by smiling faces of the staff members who were anxious to show us to our staterooms and eager to serve us in every way possible as this was the first time they had greeted their very first guests!!!

As I made my way up to deck 9 via the lifts my first impressions were certainly only described as two words ‘wow’ and ‘futuristic’ and the new smell of the freshly laid carpets and furnishings filled my nostrils. Every time I entered a lift there was a print of an animal in a quirky style. As I arrived at my balcony cabin I was impressed with the size and layout of my cabin, worthy of a 5* hotel room with tea/coffee making facilities and classy furnishings .On the table there was a rubber watch with a RCCL symbol which acted as a futuristic room key making it easy to access your room whilst having your hands full!!

As we made our way up to the top deck the sun beamed and a steel band played, I suddenly forgot that I was still docked in Southampton and it felt more like I was in the Caribbean as I made my way to the Lido bar for a cocktail.

Part 2. After the sail away aboard the 5* Anthem coming soon……

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my latest blog. I am often faced with the question from passengers ‘Is purchasing the drinks package worth it’. The Answer does depend on each individual passenger as it depends how much and what is consumed but also it does depend on What the cruise line is offering to whether it is value for money to purchase cruise drinks packages.

From first hand experience of the drinks packages on all Cruise lines personally there are 2 front runners for me in regards to excellent value,

Are you looking for something different?  Do you like the 5* things in life? Are you interested in visiting new and exciting destinations? Well if you have answered yes to the above questions then I have a treat for you…. How about exploring the Galapagos Islands?

The Galapagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos Islands were first discovered in 1535 and is one of the world’s last pristine environments. In an effort to preserve the islands as they were centuries ago, the Galapagos have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Due to their isolation and position on the equator the Galapagos can be visited all year round. There are two main seasons really, the ‘dry season’ June to December and the ‘warm season’ December to May.
