Wow we have just been notified that one of their most popular ships is returning back to her original port of Southampton for Summer 2016…..which one I hear you ask…well worry no more I am pleased to tell you that it is the Independence of the Seas.

Independence of the Seas.

This is one of their larger ships accommodating over 4000 passengers. Since her launch in 2008 she has spent every Summer sailing around Europe and the Mediterranean pleasing adults and children with her many facilities and abundance of entertainment on board in addition to  many interesting ports of call. With the launch of Royal Caribbean’s brand new ship the Anthem of the Seas they decided to move her to the Caribbean to allow people to experience their newest most innovative ship yet, however due to popular demand she is being brought back to the UK which will delight both regular and new cruisers. Itineraries will include a mix of between 3 – 14 night voyages so there will be something for everyone, the mini cruises are always very popular as a taster to try the ship or just to have a weekend away.

She has won many awards and most recently been voted best family cruise by Cruise Critic, her family cabins are some of the fastest selling cabins for peak sailings and ask anyone who has cruised on her and they will tell you that there is something for all ages, from the varied children’s clubs to a rockclimbing wall, from a flowrider where you can surf the waves to ice skating to just relaxing by the many pools, the shows are not to be missed and brand new since her refurbishment last year is the Cupcake Cupboard where you can have a different flavoured cupcake everyday and the Royal Promenade also deserves to be strolled down

These are available to book from 19th March and I would definitely recommend booking early to take advantage of some fabulous offers including free all inclusive drinks packages and free gratuities plus for the first time in a long time these offers are combinable with loyalty benefits from the C&A Society, with deposits at only £150p/p to secure your next cruise, plus here at Cruise Club Uk we have no credit card charges on deposits for our cruises for your extra protection with booking.

With eight stunning ships in their fleet, Silversea cruises offer luxury like no other.

Weighing just 36,000 tons and holding 540 passengers, the Silver Spirit is the largest cruise ship in the fleet – and the newest! The smallest cruise ship is the Silver Cloud, weighing 16,800 tons with guest occupancy for 296 passengers.

Although Silverseas have smaller cruise ships for a more intimate cruise adventure, three of their ships are “Expedition” ships, offering the most intimate cruise adventure possible. The smallest of the expedition ships is the Silver Galapagos catering for just 100 passengers on board the 4,077 tons vessel.

Cruising on the Silver Galapagos will take you to one of the most isolated places in the world where you will find a variety of wildlife species that can be found nowhere else on earth. Located just off the western coast of South America, the Galapagos Islands can be experienced with Silverseas Galapagos offering complimentary activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, Zodiac tours and nature hikes led by guides certified by the National Park of the Galapagos.

At 6,072 tons the Silver Explorer is the largest of the Expedition ships catering for 132 passengers. This is a purpose-built vessel to take passengers into some of the worlds most remote destinations, including both polar regions!!

The summer of 2016 brings a new exciting addition to the Carnival fleet!

Their brand new ship Carnival Vista will based in the Mediterranean and this will be their first ship in a long time to be based in Europe. I am expecting great things from this ship judging by the information released from Carnival. The ship is themed on a connection to the sea and this is visible on board with much more al fresco dining opportunities and outdoor activities.

I thought I would share with you the information I have learned about this ship to whet your appetite!

One of the features that will be on board is a definite first at sea, an IMAX full size cinema!! If you have ever seen a movie on an IMAX screen you will know how big they are, this one will span 3 decks and even feature its own cinema style entrance with ticket kiosks selling popcorn and the usual cinema snacks. The cinema will feature first run releases along with older films and documentaries. There will be a nominal charge for this but it is expected to be much lower than if you paid to see an IMAX screening on land. I love this idea and imagine it will be very popular!

There will be the introduction of some new cabin types, ‘Havana Cabanas’ and ‘Family Harbor’ being my favorite! The Family Harbor rooms will accommodate up to 5 people and have a very nautical nod in the decoration. There will also be a dedicated lounge that is only available for those staying in these rooms. This will be a great meeting place and getting to know other families. In addition for families, the Dr Seuss kids program will be very popular, with  character breakfasts available and story time on board for the little ones. Baby sitting facilities will also be available up until till 3am so everyone can enjoy their cruise to the max.

The ‘Havana Cabanas’ will have direct access to the Havana pool on the ship and this is only available for those staying in these rooms! This gives exclusive access to this area until 5pm after which it is open for other guests to enter. The lanai balconies will have sun chairs and hammocks to relax on if you just want to stay near to your cabin. This would be my kind of cabin!

The atrium on board is stunning! The blue columns you can see on the picture below are actually LED screens allowing all kinds of images to be projected giving a different feel on board.

Carnival ships are well known for their water-parks at sea and the Carnival Vista features a brand new ‘tube’ slide called the Kaleidoscope. In addition to the new slide will be the rope walking course and the new Skyride cars. These will be fixed to an overhead track and using pedal power you can take yourself around the track taking in the views from top deck of the ship below and the surrounding area. This looks like great fun!

I am sure you will agree this looks to be a great addition to the fleet and for the European market to be given this exclusive for the maiden season it is such a big privilege from Carnival!

We have some fantastic rates for the summer 2016 season so if you would like prices or more information please do not hesitate to give me a call directly on 0161 7982506.

The cruise rumour mill is in overload today.

Apparently Royal Caribbean are considering removing Dynamic dining on the Anthem of the seas and adopting a Rotational dining scheme,

  • This is where you’re automatically assigned a different dining room each night.

This is only a rumour at the moment and when I know more I’ll be blogging about it.

Stay tuned

Thank you you all for taking the time to read my blog with regards to Costa Cruises. I believe that they are very understated and provide excellent value for money  especially when it comes to the drinks packages! With fantastic spa facilities on board most of their ships and their new approach with the neo Collection with slower cruising so you can enjoy your holiday at a relaxed pace.

What’s the most unusual activity you can do on board a cruise ship?

Cruise Lines are constantly looking at ways to stand out from the rest and activities on board are definitely one way to do it! When you think of taking a cruise do you think of long, boring days at sea? Well think again! From Surfing to Rock-climbing, cruise lines have it covered.

For the high energy passenger

FlowRider – on board Royal Caribbean ships, passengers have the chance to work on their surfing skills. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced surfer!

Sports ComplexNorwegian Cruise line have introduced the largest ropes course at sea, The Plank extending 8 feet over the ship and more action-packed activities in their three-story sports complex.

Aqua Park – Seventeen decks above the ocean, Norwegian Cruise line offer the best water park at sea! With five multi-story slides and much more, this is fun for all the family

Sports – Nearly all cruise lines offer Basketball, Volleyball, Football courts on board the ships. Some larger than others. Tournaments are held on board for both children and adults.

With just 4 passenger decks and weighing only 2,842 tons, would the Celebrity Xpedition be for you?

The smallest of the Celebrity Cruise Line fleet – The Celebrity Xpedition, holds just 98 passengers over 4 decks. With a gross tonnage of 2,842 and being just 296 feet in length, what would it be like to spend a week on board of her?

Described by Celebrity Cruise line as a mega-yacht designed and built for exploration. Seven days a week, 365 days a year you will find the Xpedition cruising the beautiful waters of the Galapagos Islands. On board of the ship you will always find Galapagos National park certified naturalists and a very knowledgeable crew making your journey like no other.
