Brisbane is very much a green city in which it prides itself! With a subtropical climate 12 months of the year, it’s no wonder this city is full of year round alfresco activities!

Hop on a free inner city buses run weekdays between 7am – 6pm

Brisbane Greeters is a free local ambassador service that welcomes visitors to Brisbane. Greeters are volunteers who conduct short walking orientation experiences based on special interests and places around the city. Apart from New York City, Brisbane is the only other city in the world to offer this service! Just look out for the bright red outfits!

Brisbane also offers free wi-fi in more than 22 outdoor locations including Botanic Gardens and King George Square.

Climb Brisbane’s famous Story Bridge for an amazing view over the city, the Glasshouse Mountains (stunning views on a clear day and even better drive back down to the coast) to the north and Gold Coast to the south. You can also opt to abseil back down too!

Brisbane has its own man made beach in the heart of the city. Of course it’s free and boasts a sparkling lagoon, surrounded by white sand and tropical plants.

Head over to South Bank on the Brisbane River, ideal for walking or cycling. Has a diverse mix of entertainment. With 17 hectares of parks, restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, museums and galleries. You can also take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane. For something a bit different visit Stanley Street Plaza on a Friday evening or weekends to experience the markets. Listen to live music whilst looking at the many quirky cool stalls.

Another fab option is to cruise down the river. Take a wooden paddle steamer, gondola, kayak or take a paddle board lesson. Or opt for the high speed city cat which takes in 19 kilometers of the river.

Australia Zoo (crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin) is just north of Brisbane and well worth a visit. Complete with a 5000 seat crocoseum! See and learn about Australia’s many animals, including koalas, wombats and dingoes.

Head out of Brisbane for some top days out:

Noosa (part of the Sunshine Coast) – 90 minute drive north of Brisbane – I’d best describe it as a glamourous resort with pristine beaches and national park. Its like a chic Venice with waterways, filled with luxury homes on Islands. (One of my fave places in Oz) No building is higher is higher than the trees!!

Gold Coast – 1 hour drive south of Brisbane – love this place, stunning choice of beaches – home to I’m a Celebrity (Hotel Palazzo Versace) – Seaworld – Dreamworld

TOP TIP: Do a jetboat ride from Surfers Paradise – fast –exciting – stunning scenery

Brisbane- Queensland is the getaway to some fabulous days out and experiences too many to name! Hope this gives you a great overview!
