The Norwegian Escape (Norwegian Cruise Lines biggest passenger cruise ship to date) will sail out of the port of Miami whilst Royal Caribbeans Anthem of the Seas will be based out of Cape Liberty New Jersey.
Norwegian Cruise Lines will be offering a 7 night cruise from Miami sailing the Eastern Caribbean whilst Royal Caribbean will be offering a 12 night Southern Caribbean sailing.
Norwegian Escape carries 4,248 passengers and features 2,175 cabins.
Anthem of the Seas carries 4,180 passengers and features 2,090 cabins.
Both ships offer passengers different experiences, Norwegian houses 15 restaurants (buffet included) from Teppanyaki, steak houses and french themed restaurants, compared to Royal Caribbeans 14 restaurants where they offer Jamie Olivers, Sushi and Japanese and Johnny Rockets.
Entertainment wise Norwegian offers two shows “After Midnight & “Million dollar Quartet” – Royal offer “We will rock you” made famous in London West End where you can hear the greatest hits of Queen.
The Escape will offer you 10 bars and lounges for evening entertainment with the likes of Spice H20, Skyline Bar and the Cellars – Royal offer 7 bars and lounges ranging from North Star Bar, Bionic Bar and Schooners Bar.
Recently here at Cruise Club UK we hosted a night onboard the Norwegian Escape for guests who were new to the cruise line and past passengers of Royal Caribbean who have sailed with them in the past 12 months.
Guests were invited onboard to sample what Norwegian Cruise Lines have to offer and what makes them different from Royal Caribbean, from the general feedback we have collected guests loved the new ship, they found the freestyle dining aspect to be very enjoyable, the only negative feedback we received was the prices of drinks, as sailing from the UK there was 3 different types of VAT added to all drinks.
Back in March 2015 some of my colleagues had the chance to sample a 2 night cruise onboard the Anthem of the Seas, they found the ship to be great, easy to navigate around even though on a massive ship, the extremely enjoyed watching “We will rock you” they said the performance was excellent and a definite must see whilst onboard (some of the original cast were even onboard). They also enjoyed the bumper cars (first at see) and Bionic Bar in the evenings.
My personal thougths on both would be to sample Royal Caribbean first and then Norwegian second and hopefully book a cabin which comes with a free drinks package 🙂
