My Barcelona stay and cruise part 1. Barcelona city

My Barcelona stay and cruise part 1. Barcelona city

I’ve been back a week and already have the holiday blues now its all over!! Whilst the holiday is all very fresh in my mind I thought I would share my experience and everything i have learnt along the way with you. Just a reminder on what my holiday consisted of, we had 2 nights in Barcelona City followed by 2 nights Barcelona beach area and then an amazing Italy and France cruise aboard Freedom of the Seas, travelling with my husband and 6 year old daughter.

We flew from Liverpool to Barcelona with Ryanair and on arrival we were met by our driver who took us to our 1st hotel with a transfer time of approx. 25 minutes. We arrived at  The 4 * H10 Casanova hotel at approx. 8pm and were impressed straight away.

The hotel looked beautiful all lit up and very modern as we were expecting. We were greeted with cava or water on arrival whilst we checked in & there was a selection of sweet jars for the kids so they could help themselves (maybe not wise!! haha). After a very speedy check-in we were given our key cards to our room and took the lift up to the 3rd floor where our room was located. We had booked a superior triple room including breakfast. As we entered our room we all were very impressed.

The superior room had a large King size bed and additional pull out sofa bed for my daughter. The room was spacious and we had perks such as slippers, modern coffee machine, electronic safe, minibar and complimentary glass bottled water. The modern frosted glass bathroom was located next to the king size bed it was quite small but consisted of shower over bath and was fine for us! As you can see my daughter enjoying pampering herself in the bathroom below!!

We decided to go out of the hotel once we had settled in to allow my other half the chance to see the Manchester united match. As there were lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity we found a bar showing the match very easily and settled in for some traditional sangria and tapas bites with the locals.

The following morning we headed down for breakfast. We were greeted at the door by a smart suited gentleman who asked for our room number and then showed us to our table. After being served tea/coffee by a waitress we got up to explore the buffet style breakfast spread. There was a lot of choice, traditional hot breakfast along with cereals and cold meats and cheeses as well as pastries/cakes and fresh breads. There was a juice station as well as healthy drinks such as lemon/lime water and a bucket filled with ice and cava bottles for those who wanted a champagne style breakfast at no extra cost. We then explored the city a little and found that it was a nicer area to be in than the busy tourist area of Las Ramblas and although we were still cautious we didn’t feel vulnerable to the renowned pickpockets of Barcelona.

We then Spent the rest of the day at the hotel enjoying the rooftop pool and bar as it was a beautiful sunny day in Barcelona and the views over Barcelona city were amazing! The pool itself was only small and had a sunbathing area with pool towels but although small this was perfect and never got too crowded given the size!

We had such an enjoyable time at the H10 Casanova it was a perfect start to our trip. The staff were amazing and we would all definitely return to this hotel in a heartbeat! I would highly recommend this hotel for those who want to be in the city area but away from the las ramblas area. For the more upmarket guests who don’t mind paying a little extra for luxury H10 Casanova is perfect! At the end of our stay the hotel kindly arranged a taxi to take us to our next sister hotel H10 Marina Barcelona closer to Barcelona beaches. Please see my next blog as my trip continues.
