new-ship-339x369 P&O’s new ship which is to be launched in 2020 are giving the general public the chance to enter their suggestions in naming her.

The competition starts today July 10th 2017 with the winner to be announced next year.

The winner will receive two VIP places at the naming ceremony which is due to take place in spring 2020 and will at the same time be able to see their chosen name proudly emblazoned on the side of the ship.

Weighing 180,000 tons and enough room to accommodate 5,200 passengers this will be P&O’s largest ship within her fleet.

The new ship will be the first new launch in five years since the launch of the P&O Britannia back in 2015. Paul Ludlow who is the Senior Vice President for P&O cruises says ‘’ this new ship will play a pivotal role in redefining the brand and broadening our appeal”

Mr Ludlow also mentioned why it is important to have a name that will reflect the ships heritage as well as showcasing an array of new experiences she will have on offer.

He also added “The name is an inherent part of its personality and is something that will sail with it for life.”

With the use of LNG as its primary source of power it will be P&O’s most environmentally efficient ship reducing it exhaust emissions quite significantly

With the help of Eric Lanlard , Olly Smith, Jonathan Wilkes and P&O Azuras godmother and Strictly come dancing judge Darcey Bussell the Cruise line has made four short videos to accompany the competition and inspire the public to enter their names.
