Disney Cruise Lines have announced they are building their SEVENTH cruise ship

Last year, the magical cruise line announced they would have an additional two new ships in their fleet by 2021 and 2023. With the two new ships on order, they have today announced they have up-sized their ship order from two to three new ships.

The third new ship is set to be debuting in 2022.

All three ships are designed the same with around 1,250 cabins on board. This will offer occupancy to 2,500 guests. These are slightly larger than the last two ships from Disney, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy launched back in 2011 and 2012.

The three new ship names, itineraries and designs are all still being developed and are yet to be announced by the family cruise line. It is said that each ship will have its own unique features.

The Chairman of Walt Disney said that two new ships would not be enough to hold all of the new experiences they have been planning for the ships, that is why they have another on the Horizon. The new ships are set to transform the art of cruising and take guests on adventures in a way they have never dreamed before.

Now, I don’t know about you but i am a huge Disney fan and this is very exciting news! Having travelled to the Disney parks in Florida and Los Angeles, i know exactly what this company are capable of and blowing your mind is certainly one thing they do very well.

If you have read my previous blog you will be fully read up on my trip to Amsterdam, here is part 2, our second day began with opening our curtains and seeing our ship MS Koningsdam  from our window, followed by the mother of all breakfasts at our hotel, there was so much to choose from, especially if your a sucker for fresh bread like me, and the most amazing cumin flavoured cheese, so much so I even bought some to bring home, the price I paid i shall not disclose!

MS Koningsdam is Holland America’s newest ship launched in April 2016 she is their largest in their fleet to date and the first in their Pinnacle class. And what a ship she is, I’ve seen quite a few whilst working here at Cruise Club UK but wow this is by far the most impressive ship for me

Much more modern than I expected, Koningsdam has a bright open feel, what I loved most was the pale greys and creams with a splash of bright orange, pink and green flowers, beach towels and napkins giving an edge that makes her stand out from the others

Koningsdam, inkeeping with her Dutch heritage is a mix of contemporary and classic design which is significant of the Holland America line, her name also lends well to her roots “Koning,” means king in Dutch, and is a salute to King Willem-Alexander, the Netherland’s first king in over 100 years.

We began our tour in the Atrium which was light and airy, followed by the spa and pool deck, including the exclusive concierge area with private sun loungers and hydrotherapy pool. Dining plays a large part on any cruise and you wont be disappointed on this ship. The Lido restaurant has a more upmarket feel to any other buffet restaurant, instead of one large serving area they have smaller individual themed service stations for different types of food.  The main restaurant was spectacular, bright and colourful with creams and yellows, the pictures you may have seen do not do this justice at all. There are also a number of new speciality restaurants and innovations including the Culinary Arts Center, new ala carte dining such as Tamarind, Canaletto and Sel de Mer. Then there was my favourite Blend by Chateau Ste. Michelle, where you can blend your own wine whilst sampling a variety of grapes to help create your perfect wine

Artwork features heavily on the ship and with a modern feel you can discover creative new art around every corner, the Koningsdam has been decorated with a music theme and the art certainly blends well with this

Club Hal is popular for families, I was even told that their kids clubs are one of the best at sea, although I would say Holland America isn’t a cruise line that first springs to mind they are very welcoming for the younger generation

Public areas flow with the same style of openess and space, plenty sunbeds around the pool with a retractable roof for when the weather isn’t too great, a homemade ice cream section and a modern style theatre ready for your evening entertainment

All in all I was extremely impressed with this ship, my first Holland America experience, my only complaint was that we had to leave for our flight home, oh how tempted I was to become a stowaway.

Whether your a previous cruiser with Holland or similar lines, a first time cruiser or someone who likes the finer things in life I can truly recommend this ship and you will not be disappointed. She is currently sailing from Amsterdam to Northern Europe and then will move over to the Caribbean for the Winter season so if this sounds like your kind of cruise do not hesitate to contact me today

What is the first thing you do when you embark a cruise ship?

When I embark my cruise, the first thing I do is head straight up to the top deck by the pool and grab a cocktail. I will generally sit and stay here for an hour or so, taking in the new surroundings and people on board. In this time my husband has usually made his way to the buffet restaurant to get a head start on the “eating” week ahead. After an hour or so relaxing and checking out what the top deck has to offer, we make our way down the ship, deck-by-deck. This gives us a chance to see some of the ship before the rest of the passengers are on board.

When we are finished with having a walk around, if our cabin is ready we will go and check it out. Then we will head back up to the top deck to soak up more sun and cocktails.

I am sure most of you agree, one thing I hate to have to do when I embark is go to the muster drill. I feel as though my holiday has just got going and then It is put on hold for a very short while for the drill. Sitting there waiting for the other passengers to arrive at the drill is almost as annoying! I try to be the last one there, so I am the first out. And, lets be honest, the Drill is not the most entertaining to keep your attention.

This is why I think Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd are brilliant to have introduced an eight-minute video for their muster drill, which is designed to bring some fun to the dreaded drill on board!

All three brands; Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruise Line & Royal Caribbean Cruise Line will all be introducing the new video across their fleets. Azamara Club Cruises and Celebrity Cruise Line have already been showing the video on their ships, RCCL will introduce on their ships this month.

Named as “Operation: Little Bear” – The new muster video is a short film following the adventures of a secret agent who has been sent on board a cruise ship to intercept a gold teddy before it gets in to the hands of the wrong person. The agent on board has an off ship partner who supports her and helps her navigate around the ship and all of the safety procedures she will need to follow along the way.

According to the Cruise Company, the film will dramatize the do’s and don’ts of the safety on board in an entertaining way and promote the recall of safety messages.

So, lets hope the muster drill is no longer dreaded and is more welcomed by passengers.

Nicknamed as the “Big Easy”, New Orleans is a Louisiana city located on the Mississippi River, close to the Gulf of Mexico.

For the first time in three years, Royal Caribbean will be docking the Vision of the Seas cruise ship here for the 2018/19 winter season, offering seven night sailings to the Bahamas and Mexico.

Prior to moving to New Orleans in December 2018, the ship will sail two 16-night Panama Canal voyages from Miami to Los Angeles, and then from Los Angeles to New Orleans. This will also be the first time in 3 years that Royal Caribbean will offer Panama Canal sailings.

Well known for its vibrant live-music and twenty-four-seven nightlife, New Orleans has lots of offer. The festival spirit will be in full swing when they sail the winter season, with the late-winter carnival renowned for its raucous costume parades and street parties. The French quarter is a great place to hang out with jazz music sounding all day and all night long. Be sure to try the cuisine whilst there, as the city is French-Founded, this has a huge influence over the food.

Music is a Huge part of the New Orleans culture, with a huge thanks to legend Louis Armstrong who was a native of the Big Easy, and now has a public park named after him; Louis Armstrong Park. New Orleans International Airport is named New Orleans Louis Armstrong Airport.

It could be that famous play writer Thomas Lanier “Tennessee” Williams III said it better than anyone: “America has only three cities; New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans.” Even the Bright lights of Las Vegas and the Sky High buildings of New York do not compare to this unique city. New Orleans is a place like no other with a must see SkyLine for everyone visiting.

This is a place on my bucket list that I will definitely be visiting and to combine with my favourite cruise line of all time is a must for me. So, if your sailing on the Vision of the Seas from New Orleans, I may see you there.

We have put together a 3 night stay in Bali prior to the cruise. If you want to add a longer duration or stay in Sydney to see the sights, that’s no problem. Give us a call to see what we can do.

The sister ship of the Journey, the Azamara Quest (which is identical) will be staying closer to home from Rome to Barcelona on a 7 night sailing. Being one of the lucky 200 UK agents to have won a place on board the inaugural sailing of the Majestic Princess, I was lucky enough to spend 4 fantastic nights on board the brand new ship.

We began our journey with a flight from Manchester to Venice. Upon arrival, the Princess coach transfers were waiting to take us to beautiful Trieste, where the stunning Majestic Princess was ready and waiting for us. The transfer time was around 2 hours. No problem for me, as I slept the whole way!!

Boarding the ship was a breeze, very organised with not much waiting time at all.

From arriving at the port to disembarking at the end of the cruise, the staff on board were better than ever. So attentive and most of all, fun to be around. From just meeting a member of staff once, they remembered my name and needs for the whole cruise.

As the ship has been built for the Chinese Market, they cater majorly for the Chinese, of course! All of the princess benefits are offered on board, and have just been enhanced to cater for the Chinese Market.

if you get a chance to go on board, do check out the Lobster and Dim Sum bar, by the pool on deck 16. Fantastic whole lobster dinner for just $22.00!!!

Entertainment on board was wonderful. The first and Second night on board we were lucky enough to have the Tenors of Rock theatre show. My favourite night!! Singing all the old classics from Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses and many more. I was in my element.

Tenors of Rock
Tenors of Rock

At the end of each day, I would finish off in the Hollywood Conservatory which is the Night club on board. By day this is a beautiful adult only solarium, with private cabanas to hire. By night, well, its part time!!

Peacock in the Hollywood Conservatory

The shops on board are beautiful, Cartier, Rolex, bvlgari are just a few to name. It is safe to say, I looked but did not touch.

This was my first experience on board a Princess Cruise Ship and I can definitely say I will be returning some time in the near future. What a wonderful cruise line!!

I had to try the first of its kind “sing on the sea” karaoke and it was so much fun! With a drink each and canapés, you have a private suite for up to 6 people so you can go wild on your private karaoke. all suites are sound proof so you do not need to worry about next door listening. Full bar service available. the cost is $12.50 per person, with a minimum of four guests. you get 1 hour in the suite. TRY IT OUT, its so much fun!!!

Michael Jackson Karaoke Suite

I don’t really have a head for heights, but, I was brave and I walked the sea walk. this is a glass walkway on deck 17 looking straight down into the sea. This protrudes 30 feet out of the ship.

Drinks aren’t the cheapest on board (like all other American cruise lines), so I will advise any passengers who like to have a good few drinks whilst away, to maybe take out the all inclusive drinks package which is offered at £42 per person, per day.

My travel buddy, Laura, has a blog here regarding the fantastic food on board the ship. The amazing Emmanuel Renaut on board is the highly acclaimed Executive Chef of three Michelin star restaurant “Flocons de Sel,” located in the French Alps village of Megève.

Me & Executive Chef Emmanuel Renaut

We had an absolutely wonderful time on board and I recommend Princess Cruise Lines to all passengers looking for a wonderful cruise, on a wonderful ship, with superb service and food.

white luxury cruise ship behind the palm leaves

Worried about the carbon footprint of cruises? These new luxury cruises are on it, with a totally carbon-neutral cruise coming soon!

Global warming is getting worse and we’re being urged to pay more attention than ever to how our presence on earth is affecting the environment. From electric cars to plant-based diets and zero-waste lifestyles, people are going above and beyond to make sure they’re not contributing to the destruction of the environment.

Travel is one area of our lives that’s truly in the hotseat. Airplanes, cars, cruises; all use fossil fuels. The cruise industry is working hard to improve its methods and has made record strides in the past few years. Holland America, Celebrity Cruises, NCL Cruises and Royal Caribbean are some of the companies who have taken great strides to improve their green rating in the past decade. Solar panels, eliminating water bottles and eco-ballast systems to make sure nothing leaves the ship are some of the advances made, but a new company are about to totally blow them out of the water.

Adding to our amazing selection of existing eco-friendly luxury cruises, Cruise Club UK is proud to present Methane Cruises, exclusive to Cruise Club and 100% free of fossil fuel!

A Luxury Cruise with a Difference — 100% Fossil Fuel-Free

Cows are one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas emissions, with 25% of methane emissions coming from their digestive tracts — a substance 23 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Leading on from the creation of ‘fartpacks’ by scientists in Argentina, the country with the third highest number of cattle, the creators of Methane Cruises have created something far larger: The Fart Ship.

One fartpack from a single cow is enough to power a car for 24 hours, so imagine the power from the 500-strong herd below deck on a Methane Cruise! It’s enough to not only power an ocean liner, but have back-up for the room, too. Celebrity Cruises was the first to adopt solar panels to power their lights, but Methane Cruises are harnessing this natural resource to blow you all the way to Bermuda.

No Animals Harmed in the Making of this Luxury Cruise

If you’re worrying about the cows, then put your fears to rest: these cruises are PETA approved and animal rights-friendly. Every one of the 500 cows is a dairy cow rescued from the slaughterhouse, now peacefully living out their days below deck. The walls are all well ventilated and glass lined, so they still get their fair share of sunlight, and the floor is covered in turf that’s five metres deep with rich soil. Between cruises, the cows are swapped out and peacefully left to graze in some of the many hectares Methane Cruises have purchased at some of the ports, and dedicated cattle hands have been hired to look after each herd. They know each of their cows individually by name and create strong bonds of friendship.

A cow’s natural lifespan is about 20 years, but in the dairy industry, they’re lucky if they make it to being five, due to over-milking and harsh treatment. Methane Cruises are not just a luxury cruise; they’re a retirement home for happy cows.

What if the Farts Run Out? A Luxury Cruise Solution to a Windy Problem

“What if the cows stop farting?” we hear you ask. Never fear: Methane Cruises are equipped with a ‘code flatulence’ for such an emergency. NCL Cruises and Celebrity Cruises may have their vegan options, but all Methane Cruises carry entire pantries of beans ready to convert everyone’s diet to a legume-based one at a moment’s notice. Don’t worry, though: all chefs are trained by Jamie Oliver for high-quality vegetarian cooking, so your taste buds won’t suffer.

When code flatulence is initiated, vents open in the ceilings of all the bedrooms and bathrooms and your farts become converted by a futuristic ceiling ventilation system into methane fuel. The bodily functions of up to 5,000 passengers may not be a permanent solution, but they will carry you to the nearest port in time to change out to a fresh herd of cows and continue on your journey.

Can’t wait to cruise with a clean carbon emission conscience? Look for the launch of Methane Cruises with Cruise Club UK in 2020 and make sure to pack your wellingtons for saying hello to the cows.

Unfortunately (for now at least), this is just an April Fool, but we have many other fantastic and eco-friendly luxury cruises here at Cruise Club UK. Browse our selection today and plan your next adventure.

a woman enjoying her cruise holiday aboard a luxury cruise

Think that cruises are just for rich, retired couples? Think again. From last-minute cruises from the UK, perfect for young singles, to NCL cruises that keep the whole family happy, there’s no one age or person that can enjoy all the wonderful things a cruise has to offer.

When you mention cruising to people, you’re bound to get one of two reactions: enthusiasm, or disgust. It’s a lot like Marmite, really. Loved by many loathed by some, regarded as a mythical creature by those who’ve never taken one, cruises are a form of travel unlike any other breed. As such, many fallacies have sprung up around cruises.

We’re here to debunk some of those myths and explain why once you’ve sailed the high seas, you’ll never want to travel in any other way, ever again.

“Cruises Are All the Same”

An NCL Cruise, an Azamara Cruise, a Silversea Cruise; is there really a difference between all the major cruise lines other than just the colour of the sheets? After all, aren’t cruise ships just floating resorts? And aren’t all resorts the same?

Think again, because if you’re into it, there’s a cruise for it. Whether you’re a Star Trek fan or love the night sky, you’ll find a cruise to suit your needs. If you just want a great holiday where you sort out a last-minute cruise from the UK and don’t need to worry about flight connections or checking in and out, you’ll find the right one for you, thanks to the sheer variety the likes of NCL Cruises and Azamara Cruises offer. Depending on the ship, you can find climbing walls, arcades, speaker events, tennis courts; the list goes on. If you can think of something you want to do on holiday, you can find a cruise ship that has it.

“You Have to Be Rich to Cruise”

This is another thing that, quite simply, isn’t true. At Cruise Club UK, we uncover the best industry deals and we specialise in last-minute cruises from the UK, so if you fancy a spur-of-the-moment holiday, you don’t have to break the bank. An easy way to save money on cruising is to stay within Europe. The Mediterranean, which is so close and yet so often overlooked with the whole world out there, offers wonderful coastlines and incredible cliffs and coastal towns making it the perfect (and affordable) location via NCL Cruises or Azamara Cruises

Even if you want to escape to further away, like America or Asia, our last-minute cruise deals and all-inclusive packages make cruising more affordable than you could ever dream.

“Cruising is Just For Pensioners and Families”

Do you imagine that you only cruise around the world when you’re retired, like the 86-year old widow who spent 10 years living on a ship? The average age of a cruise customer is 55, meaning there are plenty of younger cruisers to balance out the older ones.

Cruising has also become more popular amongst those who are young and independent, like entrepreneurs who are taking to the seas. Because a cruise ship creates a feeling of community, it’s a great idea for networking and for businesses. NCL Cruises and other major cruise lines are also working on improving their internet service, so you can stay connected at sea.

“Cruising Isn’t Real Travel”

Cruises are subject to a lot of travel snobbery from other travellers, but there’s really no need for it. You’re not living in a shack in the jungle and learning the indigenous language, but then that’s not for everyone — and why should it be? Each to their own, after all. However, if the idea of floating in comfort and style with interesting people, constant stimulation, amazing relaxation, and fascinating places to visit doesn’t appeal to you… then you may need to get your head checked!

You can even help local communities while taking a cruise holiday, as cruise lines have opened up to voluntourism. Some offer opportunities for helping the locals, while others transport large amounts of goods to the countries they visit — so you’re helping by default.

With so many amazing last-minute cruise deals from the UK on major lines like NCL and Azamara cruises, there’s every reason to try out a cruise and see if it’s the holiday for you. If they’re good enough for someone to spend ten years on a ship, then all these people must be onto something, right? It’s time for you to find out.

Look through Cruise Club UK’s collection of industry-leading deals from major cruise companies, or contact us today so we can find you your perfect holiday!

One of the most popular, well known islands in the Caribbean is the beautiful exotic island of Jamaica.

Being the third largest island in the Caribbean (by land) there is plenty for cruise passengers to see and do here.

With the year-round sunshine, beautiful white sandy beaches and the laid back atmosphere, Jamaica is a place I would say everyone must visit at least once.

Whether its snorkelling, horseback riding along the beach, rafting, climbing the Dunns River falls, or just laying on a beautiful beach, you can find something for everyone on the Island.

Dunns River Falls
Dunns River Falls

There are four cruise ports in Jamaica; Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Falmouth and Port Antonio. The most popular with smaller ships being Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. Just last week there were nine cruise ships docked on the same day in Jamaica in the four ports. This brought a staggering 20,000 cruise passengers on to the island in just one day. This is a record for the island. With more cruise ships scheduled over 2017-2018, hopefully they will break this record.

The last time I cruised, I docked in Falmouth, which is North on the island. As I was sailing on the Allure of the seas, which is a extremely large ship, this is the only port that is big enough for her to dock. This was then a 1 hour drive to Ocho Rios where I went rafting. AMAZING!!!!

Horseback Riding Tour
Horseback Riding Tour

You can check my Jamaica experience out here.

Of course language is the spoken language on the island, but you will find the majority of the locals will speak in Jamaican Patois (Patwa) with each other. The country has a lot of culture and history which I found so interesting. A tour guide once took me to Trelawny, and explained how the language was founded in Jamaica. This came back to the days of Slavery.

With many luxury hotels on the Island, you can also get day passes to try them out for the day if you wish.
