liverpool port

I recently visited Liverpool Cruise Terminal whilst visiting the Seven Seas Explorer, this was the first time I had visited the terminal having previously only visited larger ports such as Southampton. I found it easy to get to and although on a much smaller scale the Southampton check in was easy and boarding the ship was a simple process.  Here are some facts about the terminal and some info on the Liverpool Cruise Terminal which has earned a reputation as one of the most desirable cruise destinations in Europe.

Centrally placed in the Irish Sea and so an ideal starting point for North European and Norwegian Fjord cruises; Liverpool is an efficient, friendly and convenient UK departure point. The Liverpool Cruise Terminal is a 350-metre-long floating structure situated on the River Mersey enabling large cruise ships to visit without entering the enclosed dock system or berthing mid-river and tendering passengers ashore. The terminal was officially opened on 21 September 2007 by HRH The Duke of Kent when the Queen Elizabeth 2 berthed at the terminal.

Liverpool is a city rich in maritime heritage and was the birthplace of the first passenger cruise line. Since the cruise terminal opened in 2007, the port has renewed its links with the great ocean liners of the world; Queen Mary 2, has since graced the river Mersey on numerous occasions.

From technical planning to practical support, a team of highly qualified people deliver a professional and excellent service to every visiting cruise ship. World class hospitality has ensured Liverpool is a firm favourite with international passengers – Cruise Critic awarded us the ‘Best UK Port of Call’ three times in the last four years and in 2015 Sea trade crowned Liverpool ‘Destination of the Year’.

During the 19th Century the Port of Liverpool was the world’s busiest and wealthiest port; over 9,000,000 people emigrated from the city to North America.

The city has experienced a remarkable cultural and economic renaissance. There has been an unprecedented level of public and private sector investment that has transformed the city centre, delivering new cultural assets, shopping venues and transport infrastructure – Rough Guide stated they were in the Top 3 cities in the World to visit.
