30% off

Royal Caribbean is my favourite Cruise company for my own family holidays. In a nutshell in my opinion they are the best out there for family’s with something for everyone from amazing entertainment to high standards of food and quality service you really cannot go wrong. For a limited time they are offering even more to entice you to book with them. If you book with them between the 1st and 5th of September they are offering up to 30% off onboard prices. This includes purchases of beverage packages and shore excursions also multi device surf & stream packages and much more. As we all know the extras like beverage packages can amount to a lot so this extra saving helps and also ensures no huge bill at the end of your cruise. I would definitely recommend personally the Ultimate alcoholic beverage package as I found this was the best value way to do things. I also waited until I got on-board to purchase this but only because there wasn’t an incentive to pre book it like they doing at the moment with up to 30% off the prices. For the non alcoholic option i would definitely recommend the soda package as this does not just include sodas you can also get flavoured water and alternatives to the usual sugary fizz. Also just a reminder that the deposit required to make a cruise only or fly cruise reservation is just £150 per person. So there is really nothing to stop you booking your dream cruise holiday!

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines recently announced their newest addition to their fleet, Spectrum of the Seas, and is set to wow passengers as the first ULTRA Quantum Class.

With the Quantum of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas and the Anthem of the Seas already wowing passengers on the High Seas, Royal Caribbean are adding another mega ship to their collection. Named as the Spectrum of the Seas, the 4,180 passenger ship will be the fourth ship to join the Quantum class of ships and will take to the water in 2019.

RC_Aquatheatre[1]

Just like her sisters the Quantum of the Seas and the Ovation of the seas, she is destined for the Chinese Market. Royal Caribbean are set to delight passengers in Asia Pacific area with the amazing ship.

Facilities on board the new ship have still as of yet not been released but I am sure Royal Caribbean will raise the bar with this new Mega Ship.

With Bumper Cars, Sky Diving, Ice Skating, Zip Lines, Carousels, Flow riders, Robotic Bartenders Water Slides, Interchanging restaurants and much more on other ships in their fleet, Imagine what they have in store for this new class ship?

Royal Caribbean are not the biggest cruise operator in the world, but they do operate the largest individual cruise line by passenger capacity and they also sail the largest cruise ships in the world. Having sailed numerous times on many of their ships, Royal Caribbean are (in my opinion) one of the best cruise lines on the market for couples and families. Something for everyone on board!

Royal Caribbean are set to announce more details about their new ship, so check back to keep up to date with the latest Ultra Quantum Class ship.

The Independence of the Seas is undergoing a major face lift, adding some fantastic new features.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line are well known for doing things on a large scale including building the largest ship in the world, the Harmony of the Seas.

As of summer 2018, the Independence of the Seas cruise ship, one of three in the Freedom Class of ships, will offer some first-at-sea stuff on board to passengers.

With a multi-million pound makeover, she is set to blow your minds! Already home to many activities on board, including the Flow Rider, Rock Climbing Wall, Ice Skating, H20 Water zone and large cinema screen on top deck, she will be introducing exciting activities such as Laser Tag, An Escape Room, Trampoline park and a couple of water slides!

Current H20 Zone on board Independence of the Seas

Laser Tag will be fun for all guests on board. Children and Adults alike can play a game of Laser Tag to brighten up there days. Bright Colours will make this a great experience for all.

The Escape room will allow passengers to try themselves and their brains to see if they have what it takes to Escape.

Bounce anyone? It is one of my favourite activities and I am sure most of you enjoy jumping on a Trampoline. With fitness and fun combined, this is a great sport for family and friends.

Adding to the exciting H20 Zone on board for children, there are going to be two wild water slides offered for children AND ADULTS!!!

If she didn’t float your boat before (excuse the pun) she certainly will now. The Independence of the Seas has so much to offer on board for all guests. What are you waiting for? Secure your place on board now.

After the lifeboat drill everybody made their way to the pool deck 11 ready for the sail away party!! The pool area is amazing and is split into a few sections. The forward section of deck 11 has the solarium indoor area and then through the sliding doors you go through to the open deck pool area where there is a pool bar and a big movie screen as well as hot tubs (some hotter than others) and through to the other side going towards the aft of deck 11 is the H2O kids zone complete with self service ice cream station which was a favourite with my 6yr old.

royal h20 zone

One thing to mention is due to the slippery pool area and most people wearing flip flops there were a lot of accidents with people slipping across the deck. I myself had a fall coming from the toilets to the pool area but mainly it was my pride that hurt as I flew across the deck!. There is always visible lifeguards on hand constantly watching everyone and they don’t sit down they literally stand at the pool all day with the a red buoy in hand. I found this very reassuring as my 6 year old seems to have no fear when it comes to the water. As we sailed out of Barcelona port the atmosphere was amazing the sun was shining, champagne flowing and a DJ appeared from a hole near to the movie screen. As the sail away party got under way the DreamWorks characters appeared to all the children’s delights and they danced away to the music with the reps! This was the best sail away i have ever experienced all geared towards families as this was within half term break there were many families on board.

20170528_121915 20170528_124413 20170528_132319

The highly anticipated day had come to board the Freedom of the Seas in Barcelona and to say we were excited was an understatement. We had pre-booked a private transfer to come and get us from the hotel and take us to the ship. The driver arrived promptly and we had a 20 – 25 minute journey to the ship. As we arrived at the cruise terminal at approx. 12.30pm there were lots of people as there was a few other ships as well as ours in Barcelona that day. We queued for around 20 minutes and as we are gold members once the queue entered the cruise terminal we were able to join the gold fast track line which was slightly quicker. As we had checked in prior to arrival online and printed out our sea passes,  the check in process was quick and easy and we headed through to the ship. We were greeted by the friendly staff with a glass of cava on arrival. When we walked through there was staff offering beverage package options which we were planning to take up anyway so we added them on straight away. This meant we didn’t have to queue at guest relations making the start to our cruise easy and stress free! Well done Royal! The cost of the ultimate beverage package was $441 for the 8 days which was well worthwhile as this includes most drinks such as spirits, cocktails, sodas and more. I like Cognac as my tipple and was able to have Courvoisier & Remy Martin as part of my package. I was also able to have house champagne and prosecco which are also favourites of mine! My Daughter had a soda package for the week which cost round $65 and there are self service soda machines around the ship so drinks can be had 24hours. We arrived at our cabin and our luggage hadn’t arrived yet but we decided to go in and explore.

20170528_134202

We had an inside cabin up on deck 10 towards the front of the ship, the ocean view cabins are just the same but the mirror above the bed would be the window. The bed arrangements for my daughter was great as she had a bunk style bed above us with a rail on it so she couldn’t fall out which she loved with little ladders to it. There was also a curtain which could be closed if she was asleep to divide the room so we didn’t disturb her. After a quick look around the cabin we headed upstairs to the deck above to explore the pool deck and grab some food at the windjammer buffet style restaurant located at the aft of the pool deck.

Image result for royal caribbean windjammerImage result for royal caribbean windjammer food

The windjammer food was amazing, so much choice and everything labelled to avoid confusion. There is also a section of the windjammer called jade that has an Asian influence as well so there really is lots of variation to suit any requirement. Although this is all self service there are staff walking around taking bar drinks orders if required which I thought was a nice touch. We found the food to be of a very high standard and the staff were very helpful and friendly. On the way back to our cabin we stopped by at the adventure ocean kids club to register my daughter, the staff were very inviting and my daughter cerise wanted to play straight away but the club doesn’t operate on the 1st day due to the registration period. We headed back to the cabin to check if our luggage had been delivered and it had so we got changed into our swim suits and headed back up to deck 11 to the pool area to explore. As a 1st day tip for next time I would pack a small hand luggage bag with swim suits in and sun cream as sometimes it can take a good few hours to receive your luggage to your cabin. Stay tuned for my next blog as we sail away…..

What is the first thing you do when you embark a cruise ship?

When I embark my cruise, the first thing I do is head straight up to the top deck by the pool and grab a cocktail. I will generally sit and stay here for an hour or so, taking in the new surroundings and people on board. In this time my husband has usually made his way to the buffet restaurant to get a head start on the “eating” week ahead. After an hour or so relaxing and checking out what the top deck has to offer, we make our way down the ship, deck-by-deck. This gives us a chance to see some of the ship before the rest of the passengers are on board.

When we are finished with having a walk around, if our cabin is ready we will go and check it out. Then we will head back up to the top deck to soak up more sun and cocktails.

I am sure most of you agree, one thing I hate to have to do when I embark is go to the muster drill. I feel as though my holiday has just got going and then It is put on hold for a very short while for the drill. Sitting there waiting for the other passengers to arrive at the drill is almost as annoying! I try to be the last one there, so I am the first out. And, lets be honest, the Drill is not the most entertaining to keep your attention.

This is why I think Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd are brilliant to have introduced an eight-minute video for their muster drill, which is designed to bring some fun to the dreaded drill on board!

shutterstock_18820957

All three brands; Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruise Line & Royal Caribbean Cruise Line will all be introducing the new video across their fleets. Azamara Club Cruises and Celebrity Cruise Line have already been showing the video on their ships, RCCL will introduce on their ships this month.

Named as “Operation: Little Bear” – The new muster video is a short film following the adventures of a secret agent who has been sent on board a cruise ship to intercept a gold teddy before it gets in to the hands of the wrong person. The agent on board has an off ship partner who supports her and helps her navigate around the ship and all of the safety procedures she will need to follow along the way.

According to the Cruise Company, the film will dramatize the do’s and don’ts of the safety on board in an entertaining way and promote the recall of safety messages.

So, lets hope the muster drill is no longer dreaded and is more welcomed by passengers.

Nicknamed as the “Big Easy”, New Orleans is a Louisiana city located on the Mississippi River, close to the Gulf of Mexico.

For the first time in three years, Royal Caribbean will be docking the Vision of the Seas cruise ship here for the 2018/19 winter season, offering seven night sailings to the Bahamas and Mexico.

Prior to moving to New Orleans in December 2018, the ship will sail two 16-night Panama Canal voyages from Miami to Los Angeles, and then from Los Angeles to New Orleans. This will also be the first time in 3 years that Royal Caribbean will offer Panama Canal sailings.

Well known for its vibrant live-music and twenty-four-seven nightlife, New Orleans has lots of offer. The festival spirit will be in full swing when they sail the winter season, with the late-winter carnival renowned for its raucous costume parades and street parties. The French quarter is a great place to hang out with jazz music sounding all day and all night long. Be sure to try the cuisine whilst there, as the city is French-Founded, this has a huge influence over the food.

Music is a Huge part of the New Orleans culture, with a huge thanks to legend Louis Armstrong who was a native of the Big Easy, and now has a public park named after him; Louis Armstrong Park. New Orleans International Airport is named New Orleans Louis Armstrong Airport.

It could be that famous play writer Thomas Lanier “Tennessee” Williams III said it better than anyone: “America has only three cities; New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans.” Even the Bright lights of Las Vegas and the Sky High buildings of New York do not compare to this unique city. New Orleans is a place like no other with a must see SkyLine for everyone visiting.

New Orleans, Louisiana, Skyline

This is a place on my bucket list that I will definitely be visiting and to combine with my favourite cruise line of all time is a must for me. So, if your sailing on the Vision of the Seas from New Orleans, I may see you there.
