With the financial trouble in Greece all over the news we take a look at travel in this popular European destination and ask how Greece Cruises will be affected.

The financial crisis in Greece has prompted the British Government to advise citizens traveling there to take plenty of cash with them, in case difficulties arise getting money there. The U.K.’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised British travellers to take enough euros to cover daily expenses, as well as emergencies.

Greece is in the middle of severe financial crisis due to the country’s failure to meet its debt obligations. Yesterday saw another twist in the tale with a NO vote in the referendum, where voters overwhelmingly rejected the austerity proposals from the country’s creditors hasn’t changed the advice that is being given to holidaymakers from the government.

Meanwhile, cruise lines are continuing their itineraries to the Greece as scheduled. Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess and Costa Cruises are all sailing in Greece this week and have not changed their plans.

Azamara Club Cruises is also continuing its Greek sailings. Said Signe Bjorndal, Director of Global Marketing & Public Relations: “RCCL’s global security team is watching this on an on going basis, and if they feel any kind of modification or changes are needed, they will take immediate action”

Having just returned from my honeymoon in Thassos, Greece I would also like to just add my own advice. I found that the Greek people were just as friendly and welcoming as they always have been and were very appreciative of tourists continuing to travel there. As long as you make sure you have enough Euro’s with you then I’m sure you would have a fantastic holiday there and there is certainly no reason for anybody to avoid going to such a beautiful part of the world.

What are your thoughts? Would you still go?
