This week I had the pleasure of visiting the fabulous new Norwegian Escape whilst escorting passengers on a special 1 night “Introduction to NCL Cruise” down in Southampton.
I’ve always liked for NCL since I sailed on Epic a few years ago and have since been on Breakaway too so I was looking forward to seeing what Escape had to offer.
Escape is beautiful and exactly what I expected! Modern, sleek and with lots of fun to be had on board.
There are so many restaurants to choose from, 21 in fact, including French, Japanese and Italian cuisine, a steak restaurant and obviously the buffet restaurant that you find on any ship – something for everyone basically. We dined in the Teppanyaki restaurant for our evening meal which is one of the specialty restaurants. The cover charge works out around £20pp but they food was fantastic. We all went for Fillet Mignon and Lobster Tail which was cooked to perfection by our chef.

Escape reminded me a lot of Breakaway although just a bit bigger. There are numerous bars and lounges to choose from too and something always going on somewhere on the ship. You really couldn’t get bored on this ship. My favorite was the District Brew House, where you can get more than 50 different bottled beers or any of the 24 draft beers on tap. That along with the live music made for a brilliant atmosphere.

One criticism I do have is that the drinks on board were very expensive and I would certainly encourage customers to take advantage of any offers of free drinks packages that NCL have on offer at the moment.
As you would expect from Norwegian, the facilities for children are fantastic too – Escape has one of the biggest kids club areas I think I’ve seen on a ship! That alongside the waterpark and rope course mean there is plenty to keep them entertained for hours on end!
We also got the chance to have a look around the Haven Suites which are beautiful, i think you could actually get lost in the owners suite! Booking one of these suites will give you access to The Haven, an exclusive area with pool as well as lots of extra amenities and added touches that will make your cruise absolutely perfect.
All in all I would say that this ship, and any of the newer ships with Norwegian Cruise Lines is absolutely perfect for couples and families and I think that I will be looking to take a longer trip with them myself in the very near future.
