The Panama Canal is one of the most famous canals in the world, in fact, it is now classed as one of the seven wonders of the modern world! You can now experience a breath taking Panama Canal Cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line.
At just over 77 kilometres it connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The building of the canal itself was one of the largest and most difficult constructions undertaken at the time so it is no wonder the Panama Canal cruises are so popular, it tends to be one of those places that is on everyone’s bucket list. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to do this one yet but I’m certain it will feature at some point!
Some cruises offer just a partial transit, where the ship sails in to Gatun Lake ( the man made lake at the middle section of the canal ) then turns around and comes back. The Norwegian Pearl cruise we currently have on offer is a full transit so you get to experience the full length of this awesome man made creation!
The itinerary of this particular cruise is fantastic if you want to explore some of Mexico as there are 4 different ports to explore including Cabo San Lucas which is ever popular with celebrities and is actually in the top 5 destinations to visit in Mexico, due to the gorgeous beaches and scuba diving opportunities.
If you are looking for something a little different, Cartagena is one of the first ports of call on this fantastic itinerary and is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old city is a popular attraction with the inner walled town and historic districts with the different types of architecture and churches to immerse yourself in the local culture.
In regards to the ship itself, the Norwegian Pearl came into service in 2006, was refurbished in 2013 and is one the Jewel Class of ships with NCL. She can hold up to 2394 passengers at full occupancy so is what we would class a mid size ship. Of course, to sail through the Panama Canal the ships have to be within a certain size to fit through so you wouldn’t find any of the huge super ships doing this type of itinerary.
As you would expect with NCL you will find around 20 different dining options on board along with a choice of 15 bars and lounges so there is something to suit every mood.
I would definitely recommend taking a balcony cabin on this itinerary to make the most of the scenery on the Panama Transit. The decks will get very busy so this way you have your own personal space to enjoy the spectacular scenery on offer. A further bonus is you will receive on board credit of $500 included in our offer to spend on treats on the ship such as a relaxing spa treatment, a meal in a few of the specialty restaurants or perhaps a bottle of champagne to toast your special cruise sailing through the fantastic Panama Canal!
If this sounds like the cruise for you, why not give me a call directly on 0161 7982506.
