new ships for 2016

Afternoon cruisers.

harmony

Well the time has come and Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the seas has crossed the Atlantic to start her new life in the Caribbean.

After leaving Barcelona on the 27th October she made her way over to the Caribbean to start her winter duties. 219 hours later she arrived in port everglades Florida.

As Royal Caribbean’s biggest and most advanced ship yet it was a certainty that they would be having a little celebration on her arrival, in typical Royal Caribbean fashion they did a royal rendezvous at sea.

This is where they greet the arrival of their newest ship as sea with a flotilla of their sister ships – its quite a feat.

A happy Accident in 2016 I was onboard the oasis when the new girl (allure) arrived in Florida’s waters, and in Royal tradition they had a Royal Welcome at sea.

With helicopters, Flags, Sounding the horns it was quite an experience to be part of the Royal Welcome.

The Harmony brings with her the latest all singing & dancing features:

The ultimate abyss, A 10 story slide from the top of the ship to the bottom.

All new restaurants on board (including a larger wonderland and Jamie Oliver’s at sea.

Grease the musical performing at sea.

Multiple waterslides and sports activities to make your cruise as fun as you want it to be.

What do you think of the harmony?

Too big? / Too busy ? / lots for you to do? Or sign me up – Iwant to go!

First Impressions

The 1,830 passenger ship formerly owned by Royal Caribbean has now been bought and transformed by Thomson Cruises. The ship now approaches its 22nd year! Thomson certainly had there work cut out and in just six weeks the ship has gone through a multi million pound refurbishment and is now known as TUI Discovery and is now the biggest ship in there fleet.
I personally am not a massive Thomson cruises fan however now I have seen what they have done with the new ship they may have managed to change my mind….
First Impressions are that the ship is brimming with new technology! Every deck has touch screens so you clearly know where you are at any time as well as what’s on that day. There are high-tech screens in the main theatre as well as a virtual band that plays in the live lounge.
Stylish décor! On a Thomson ship really? I was very surprised as I would never usually class the word ‘stylish as something to be associated with a Thomson ship however Tui Discovery has changed my view entirely!Décor in the public rooms is simple yet elegant and the public lounges are all mainly refurbished in primary colours. The stunning double height main dining room is furnished with steel, glass & centrepieces such as a grand piano and chandelier.

Please visit part 2 of my blog as I explore the entertainment and facilities onboard the new TUI Discovery!
